For law firms

The economics of a junior's afternoon

A chambers does not buy software. It buys back the hours its juniors spend assembling what someone else already assembled last year.

Where the hours go

Three places the time disappears in a typical commercial chambers, and what changes.

  • Assembling the section history

A junior spends most of a day pulling the current text, the amendments and two reported decisions for a point the chambers has argued before.

The same assembly arrives in minutes with citations attached, and the day goes on the argument instead.

  • First-pass document review

A ninety-page facility agreement is read line by line by whoever is free, and the risk list depends on who that was.

A consistent clause map and risk list every time, reviewed by a person rather than produced by one.

  • Covering someone else's date

The file lives in one person's head and a WhatsApp thread. Cover means an hour of phone calls the night before.

Matter, stage, next date and papers in one record, so cover is a five-minute read.

For law firms

Built for the way a chambers actually works

Work here moves between people. A partner takes instructions, an associate researches, a junior drafts, a clerk files, and someone covers the next date at short notice. The tool has to survive that handover.

See the firm plan
  • Your precedent bank, not a generic library

Load your own drafts. The house style you have spent fifteen years settling stays the house style.

  • Matter walls that hold

Ethical walls between matters, so a conflicted team cannot reach the other side of a file. Enforced in the product, evidenced in the log.

  • Roles that match the chambers

Partner, associate, junior, clerk. Permissions that reflect who may see a matter and who may export from it.

  • An audit trail you can hand over

Every query, upload and export attributable to a named person, exportable for the firm's own records.

  • Handover that is not a WhatsApp thread

Matter notes, next dates and papers in one place, so tomorrow's cover knows what yesterday's hearing decided.

  • A pilot that proves it or does not

One month, one live matter, your own drafts loaded, a named contact sitting with your team. If it does not save your juniors real hours, do not buy it.

The three objections we get

  • What if it is wrong?

It will sometimes be wrong, which is why every answer carries its citation and why we describe output as a first draft for a qualified person to check. The question is not whether a junior is ever wrong — it is whether you can check the work in a minute. You can.

  • Can I put a client's file into it?

That is your call to make against your own duty, and we give you what you need to make it: no training on your matter, matter walls, per-workspace retention, a full audit trail, and residency terms written into the enterprise agreement rather than asserted on a web page.

  • Does this breach the advertising rules?

Using research and drafting software inside your own chambers is not advertising, any more than a library or a word processor is. We do not publish your name, your matters or your results, and we do not solicit clients on your behalf.

Trust

Privilege is not a feature you add later

A chambers cannot put a client's file into a tool it cannot account for. These are the controls the product is built around — and we mark the ones not yet independently attested rather than implying they are.

Items marked “Planned” describe intended controls that have not yet been independently attested. We will not describe them otherwise until they have been.

  • Data residency

    Planned

Matter data held in a designated region with residency terms fixed in the enterprise agreement.

  • No training on client matter

    Planned

Uploaded documents and chat transcripts are not used to train models. Contractually committed, not merely stated.

  • Encryption in transit and at rest

    Planned

TLS 1.3 on the wire, AES-256 on disk, with per-workspace key separation.

  • Matter walls

    Planned

Ethical walls between matters, so a conflicted team cannot retrieve the other side of a file.

  • Full audit trail

    Planned

Every query, upload and export attributable to a named user and exportable for the firm's own records.

  • Retention you set

    Planned

Per-workspace retention windows and hard delete on request, including from backups within the stated window.
